Gisele Bündchen shows how she can kick ass for Under Armour in a commercial that’s bound to raise sales and eyebrows.

Gisele Bündchen Kicks Ass for Under Armour

The supermodel is shown kicking and punching the crap out of a boxing bag as negative comments from her critics flash behind her. Gisele joins Under Armour’s new multi-million dollar women’s campaign title “I Will What I Want”.

She joins ballerina Misty Copeland, who already has an advertisement of her own. Proving she is more than “just a model”, Gisele demonstrates how she has got the capability of kicking my butt. Under Armour took a risk and partnered with Gisele as she is their first non-athlete spokesperson.

Under Armour is looking to rebrand their company with these powerful ads. They want to be the place where powerful athletic women look to buy fashionable gym clothing. Now I do not own any gym clothing because my life-style does not require me to purchase. The reason is simple, I don’t work out. Running is out of the question, but I don’t even like walking. I have even thought about buying a wheelchair just so I can stay seated all day, but I have been told society frowns upon those who act disabled.

So, I personally know nothing about gym apparel, but this ad does its part on showing how women can be athletes too. It did also reaffirm my life-long fear. It is very possible that one day I could get beaten up by a girl….

Okay, I have a few issues with this. First of all, it seems that all advertising directed at women only features super fit, “sexy”, thin women in revealing clothing. It seems that advertising can’t be directed positively at women, or at men’s attraction to women, by featuring actual, real, normally sized, appearing, and dressed women. This is really frustrating to me as a feminist. Thanks for this article Howard Davidson Arlington MA. Under Armour won’t be getting my business anytime soon.
